Heather: What was the inspiration for the Hearts United Mission? How long has it been going on?
Dick Boldin: Hearts United 2014 Mission is being held due to the tremendous response received at the Hearts United 2013 Eucharistic Rosary Rally for Peace and the Family which was held at Wisconsin State Exposition Center in Milwaukee on September 7, 2013. The inspiration or reason for both of these events is the spiritual crisis in our culture and nation. We need to provide a Message of Hope to the faithful to bring about a spiritual renewal and transformation, and the way or manner is to bring people to Jesus is through Our Lady and her rosary. All through history, the Church has called upon the faithful to turn to Our Lady through the rosary to bring about peace and heal crises in the culture. The present crisis is obvious and we turn to Mary for her powerful intercession to provide a Message of Hope! Indeed, at the 2013 Rally, a Help America Pray the Rosary bumper sticker was launched is now reaching across the country with requests.
H: Who is the Hearts United Mission directed towards?
DB: Hearts United 2014 is directed towards all the faithful from single, married, entire families, youth, young adults, priests, religious and all the lay faithful. Everyone is welcome!! Each evening will be different so make sure to attend them all!
H: What can attendees expect to happen during the Mission?
DB: Each evening of the Mission will be different. October 5 will focus on how the Rosary brings us to the mercy of Christ especially in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. October 6 will focus on how the Rosary brings us to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. The Mission culminates with the Feast of the Rosary celebration on October 7. There will be opportunities for prayer, original uplifting music, Scripture, confessions, adoration and procession of the Blessed Sacrament and much more. National guest speakers Janis Clarke from Maryland and Fr. Peter Ryan of the USCCB in Washington DC will uplift everyone with their talks and love for Jesus and Mary and the Church. Janis Clarke is a renowned music composer and singer and will provide inspiring original new songs for the Mission. Bishop Donald Hying, Fr. James Kubicki, S.J. and Archbishop Jerome Listecki will preside at various evenings and bring us a message of the love of Christ.
H: What are the main reasons you would encourage people to go?
DB: To receive a Message of Hope for peace and the family in response to the spiritual crisis in our culture and nation. The solution to the crisis is simple and it is the Our Lady leading us to her Son Jesus Christ through the beautiful and powerful rosary which Mary extends to each one of us to grasp. What happens? We encounter Christ and our hearts become united with His and with each other. As the saying goes, the time is now and we need to respond to the call.
H: What are you most excited about in regards to the Mission?
DB: Archbishop Jerome Listecki will be entrusting the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to Our Lady of the Rosary at this Hearts United 2014 Mission. This is a gift and blessing to all the faithful of Milwaukee!!! It is actually answering the invitation of Christ on the cross when he gave Our Lady to each of us as our mother. At this 2014 Mission, we accept this invitation in a most special manner through the Entrustment proclaimed by Archbishop Listecki. Each of us then is to imitate St. John who at the foot of the cross took Mary into his home - into his daily life- so he, and now each of us in 2014 can be united to her Son Jesus Christ.
H: What else do you think people should know?
DB: Hearts United 2014 is co-sponsored by the Rosary Evangelization Apostolate, the Men of Christ and the Women of Christ in collaboration with the Nazareth Project of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The Mission further aided by numerous partnering organizations which are noted on the Hearts United 2014 website.
